This crash response vehicle is well equipped to manage any crash scene with its robust features. The Glendale Police Department chose a Ford F-550 featuring a 6.8L Triton V10 gas engine and a 5-speed electronic SelectShift automatic with overdrive.
The inside features aluminum box pan shelves with satin anodized roll-up doors to keep stored equipment safe during transport. An exterior satin anodized roll-up door opens for a bi-fold aluminum collapsible fold-out ramp for deployment of a robot or for moving other equipment in and out. Custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets have also been installed for additional interior storage. A space for the department’s Day Box has been added as well. Fixed bench seating and a flip-down counter provide additional seating and work space within the vehicle.
On the exterior is a weatherproof LCD monitor compartment for staff who may have to work outside the vehicle at a scene. An electric awning has also been added to provide coverage for those utilizing the screen or coming in and out of the vehicle. For access to the roof, a swing out and down ladder has been installed on the rear of the vehicle. To provide electric power, a 7kW generator has been installed in a custom-fabricated all-aluminum compartment.
