The Fort Smith Police Department of Arkansas recently took delivery of their new LDV-built mobile command center. They chose to build their new command center on a Freightliner MT-55 forward control gas chassis with a V8 308HP engine and Allison 2200 HS automatic transmission with park pawl with PTO provision. A flip-down aluminum step with Diamondback has been fabricated for entry through the rear door. There is a custom console to house the electrical distribution components. A red/clear LED dome light with 3-position switch can be used during night operations.
The front conference area includes a conference table and fixed bench seating with removable cushions. Two 50" QLED TVs have been mounted in the conference area as well, one above the fixed bench seats and one above the flip-down seating. In the center of the vehicle is custom cabinetry including an electronics rack and slide-out tray for a printer as well. There is also a galley area with a microwave, coffee maker, and 2.7 cu.ft. refrigerator for convenience.
The rear area features two dedicated workstations and cafe-style seating for two additional personnel. A flush pocket door installed on a heavy-duty aluminum track creates separation between the two work areas when needed. Pre-wire and installation provisions have been made for multiple customer-supplied parts including a rear mast, communications radio, and 4G wireless router.
A color back-up camera system assists with parking the vehicle. Two low-profile rooftop air conditioners help keep things cool. Providing electrical power to the vehicle when needed is a 15-kW liquid-cooled gasoline generator mounted in a custom-fabricated compartment. Emergency lights and sirens have been integrated to the exterior of the vehicle, providing high visibility when traveling to a scene.
