The Fairfax County Government in Virginia chose LDV to create their new mobile outreach center. Built on a custom commercial shell chassis, this vehicle boasts a Cummins 6.7L engine and Allison 2200 MH series electronic transmission with park pawl. Two of our industry-exclusive flat-floor slide-outs have been incorporated into the front curb and street sides, maximizing the interior space of the vehicle. The flat-floor slide-outs are controlled by LDV's Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system which aids in the startup and shutdown procedures of the vehicle. It also assists with the deployment of other systems and features such as HVAC, awnings, generators, and more.
To enter the vehicle, there is a set of automatic steps that deploy when the curbside door is opened. Next to this is an adjustable handrail that can be set to the needed height. There is also another set of steps stowed in an underbody storage compartment that can be hooked to the side of the vehicle and leveled instead of the automatic entry steps if desired. Inside the vehicle is a spacious front area with three workstations and a galley kitchen area. Each workstation includes a spider-base task chair, fixed bench seat with removable cushion for storage, overhead cabinet, window with shade, CAT6 jacks, duplex receptacles with dual USB charging ports, and a computer cable pass-thru grommet for customer-supplied computers. The passenger-side workstation also includes a 32" LED 1080P Smart HDTV mounted to the wall of the galley area. The galley includes a microwave and 2.7 cu.ft. refrigerator, and cabinets. A printer is also located in the galley area on a slide-out printer tray next to a commercial shredder.
The center of the vehicle includes more custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets, one of which houses an electronics rack, and two additional workstations. At the rear of the vehicle is an exam area which includes a sink, compact automatic defrost refrigerator, custom cabinets, and a flip-up counter area. There is also fixed bench seating, and flip-up worktable. The area can be separated from the rest of the vehicle by closing the dual FRP covered pocket doors installed on a heavy-duty aluminum track.
On the exterior is a 15ft. electric awning that provides coverage over the wheelchair lift and wheelchair access door as well as the weatherproof exterior workstation. The exterior workstation includes a 43" 4K UHD LED monitor, a 20A-125Vac duplex receptacle, dual USB charging ports, a GFCI duplex receptacle, and two CAT6 jacks. HVAC duties are handled by three roof-mounted 15,000 Btu air conditioners with heat strips, two wall mount 5,120 Btu/hr electric heaters, and one 12,000-16,000 Btu/hr direct discharge diesel-fired furnace. To supply power to the vehicle when deployed, a 12-kW commercial quiet diesel generator in a custom-fabricated all-aluminum compartment can be fired up. Four IP perimeter cameras with a video decoder are found around the vehicle to keep watch over the vehicle's surroundings.
