Erie County DPS out of Pennsylvania chose LDV to create their new emergency equipment vehicle. Built on a Freightliner MT-45 forward control chassis, it boasts a Cummins B6.7 engine and Allison 1000 EVS automatic transmission with park pawl with PTO provision. Erie County chose to outfit the vehicle with a set of PIAA LP530 fog lights.
Inside, there are two workstations at the front of the vehicle. Each has overhead cabinets with dry erase writing surfaces for additional writing space. A spider-base task chair, duplex receptacles, and communications radios are also found at each station. At the curbside workstation, a pole-mounted weather station has also been installed. There is a 3 position light in the cab of the vehicle as well as a custom-fabricated console to house electrical distribution components and control panels. A flush pocket door on a heavy-duty aluminum track creates privacy when needed. In the center of the vehicle are multiple custom-fabricated cabinets, closets, and drawers for storing equipment. Shelves inside the closet are infinitely adjustable to adjust to Erie County's equipment needs as they may evolve.
At the rear of the vehicle is a collaboration area with fixed bench seating which also provides additional storage space. On the driver side is a flip-down table top that can be used as an additional stand-up workspace. It features Wilsonart laminate for added durability. A galley area with a 2.7 cu.ft. refrigerator was also added to this section of the vehicle. A complete surge suppressor has also been added to protect the entire AC power system. The vehicle also features a 50A-125/250Vac shore power package, multiple duplex and quad receptacles, and GFCI duplex receptacles.
There is a color back-up camera system to assist with parking when needed. Supplying electric power to the vehicle is a 12-kW diesel generator in a custom-fabricated all-aluminum compartment. Providing coverage for those entering and exiting the vehicle is a 15' manual horizontal arm awning. Dual rear doors provide another access point to the vehicle and can be accessed via a bolt on flip-down step with Diamondback open grating. A single door underbody storage compartment has been added for additional storage space on the exterior of the vehicle. To finish off the exterior, an emergency lights and siren package has been added, providing high visibility when traveling to a scene.
