LDV worked with Dallas Police Department to design and build this EOD vehicle. Built on a Ford F-550 4WD diesel truck chassis, this 18' custom all-aluminum dry van body features a 6.7L V8 diesel engine and a TorqShift 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. A manually operated exterior entry step has been installed by the curbside entry door.
The vehicle includes adjustable shelving on the inside with roll up doors, two dedicated workstations LED TVs, a DVR, HDTV antenna, prewired for customer supplied communications radios and a space for a refrigerator. To hang bomb suits, a heavy-duty stainless steel hanger rod has been added to the closet. Pre-wire and installation provisions have been made for communications radios in the cab area.
The outside of this vehicle is painted black with a vinyl shield and lettering. The back features dual rear doors that allow a 36" wide x 119" long collapsible foldout 1,000 lbs. capacity ramp to deploy. The floor by the robot ramp has been covered in NFPA diamond plate. On the rear, a roof access ladder has been installed. Emergency lights are found around the exterior of the vehicle as well. A 7.5-kW 120 volt AC generator has been installed as well to provide electric power to the vehicle.
