We recently completed three new mobile medical vehicles for the City of Newark, New Jersey. The medical vehicles are built on Freightliner MT-55 forward control chassis with Cummins B6.7L diesel engines and an Allison 2500HS automatic transmission. The aluminum bodies include a swing out wheelchair lift door. Extreme Duty body storage compartments have also been integrated into the body for additional gear storage. We also installed a vehicle leveling system to stabilize the trucks while deployed. A color backup camera system has been installed to aid parking maneuvers.

The interior floorplan includes two patient rooms, each with a medical exam table, physician’s stool and custom aluminum cabinetry with dry erase writing surface on the overhead cabinets. Welch-Allyn wall mounted diagnostic sets are also included. A pressurized water supply system has also been installed. We included a lavatory in the floor plan with a specimen pass through door. Custom flip down bench seats have been added to each patient room. The front patient room also includes a galley with microwave and refrigerator. Magnetic soft closure pocket doors are utilized for privacy. Interior lighting is LED throughout. We also installed a Bluetooth audio system with amplifier and 2-way speakers. Local volume control is added in each room for convenience.

HVAC duties are handled by three ducted low profile rooftop A/C units with wall thermostat and a power roof ventilator in each medical vehicle. Direct discharge furnces and a wall mounted electric furnace is utilized in each truck as well. An Onan Commercial Quiet 12kW generator supplies plenty of electric power. A full vehicle surge suppression system is installed to protect all of the installed electronics.
