Centro de Salud de Lares (PR) Mobile Mammography Vehicle

Centro de Salud de Lares (PR) took delivery of their new LDV-built mobile mammography vehicle. Built on a Freightliner MT-55 forward control chassis, the vehicle also includes a Cummins 240HP engine, Allision 2200 HS automatic transmission with park pawl with PTO provision, air ride rear suspension, and hydraulic brakes. A Zone Defense color backup camera system assists with parking.

Custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets provide additional storage throughout the vehicle. Fixed bench seating at a cafe table has a file cabinet integrated into the seat base. Also in the waiting area is additional fixed bench seating with removable cushions to provide additional storage space as well. Solid surface countertops provide durability and have been used throughout the vehicle. An FRP covered pocket door has been installed on a heavy-duty aluminum track, creating privacy when needed.Throughout the vehicle are CAT6 computer network jacks with CAT6 cable, GFCI duplex receptacles, an Asus wireless 3-in-1 router, and prewire and install provisions have been made for a customer-installed cellular modem as well.

The ceiling above the mammography gantry has been panned allowing for full gantry travel. A custom floor-to-ceiling aluminum wall partition with leaded glass is located in the mammography area providing a dedicated area for mammography technicians. There is also a changing room with a sliding curtain and fixed bench seat for patient comfort and privacy. A hands-free faucet with 12-volt pump galley water system is also found in the mammography area. Prewire provisions have been made for a customer-purchased Hologic-installed mammography equipment. A host of customer-supplied medical equipment has been integrated into the vehicle as well.

On the exterior, an automatic awning provides cover for those entering and exiting the mobile mammography vehicle. A 25-kW diesel generator provides power to the vehicle. For HVAC needs, three low-profile air conditioners have been installed for cooling purposes. Whelen scene lighting illuminates the exterior. A heavy-duty full automatic one-touch leveling system provides stability for the vehicle no matter what terrain it is parked on.
