Bucks County Emergency Services selected a Peterbilt 348 conventional cab chassis and a 33' long custom aluminum body as the platform for their new mobile command center. The vehicle features a 350HP engine and Allison 3000 EVS automatic transmission. A 24" wide automatic steel entry step has been installed under the curbside entry door.
Four generous flat floor slide out rooms create ample space for their multi-purpose unit. This unit has a total of seven seated workstations, a standing workstation and conference seating for 6. The large front conference room with fold down bench seating on the driver's side wall and 3 workstations on the opposing wall allows for multiple different applications. The center entrance is enclosed with sliding whiteboard pocket doors on each side to partition off the front and rear as well as housing communication equipment. Two refrigerators have been installed with one for staff use and one behind a vented roll-up door to store evidence. The rear of the unit houses four workstations. This versatile design lends itself well to a range of deployments.
For staff working outside the vehicle, a weatherproof exterior compartment houses a 48" monitor audio/video input jacks, and a communications radio has been integrated into the body. A vehicle automation system automates startup and shutdown procedures as well as controlling systems such as HVAC, generators, lights, and more. HVAC is handled by three direct discharge diesel-fired furnaces and four ducted low-profile air conditioners. A 24-kW liquid-cooled diesel generator provides electric power to the vehicle when needed. To illuminate a scene during night operations, a night scan 115Vac light tower has been installed on the rear of the vehicle. Emergency lighting has also been installed around the exterior of the vehicle for high visibility when needed.
