LDV, Inc. designed and manufactured this EOD Mobile Command Center on a 2009 International conventional cab chassis with an 24' long custom bonded all aluminum dry van body and NFPA 1901 embossed 0.125" aluminum tread plate roof. The Broward County Sheriff’s office chose an extended front bumper as well to ensure there is plenty of room for the winch to be installed. When additional privacy is needed between areas of the vehicle, an FRP covered pocket door has been added on a heavy-duty aluminum track.
Technology equipment includes two LCD touch screens that control the vehicle’s features with automatic startup & shut down, 4 flat panel LCD televisions, and a multi camera surveillance system with day/night colors. The workspace has two workstations with custom fabricated aluminum cabinets and counter surfaces, benches and shelving designed and installed by LDV, Inc. for optimal storage and seating for various emergency response uses. Multiple aluminum box pan shelves have been added to the interior with satin anodized roll-up doors. To deploy the department’s robot, a custom electric ramp has been installed as well.
The exterior features ample waterproof storage compartments for additional equipment storage. A 23’ electric awning provides cover over the curbside entry door, weatherproof exterior LCD monitor compartment, and the roll-up doors. A heavy-duty non-locking telescoping pneumatic mast with a camera has been installed on the rear of the vehicle. To access the rooftop storage boxes, a roof access ladder has been added as well. To ensure the vehicle sits level while at a scene, a fully automatic one-touch leveling system was installed. For providing electric power to the vehicle, a 12-kW generator has been mounted in its own custom-fabricated all-aluminum compartment.
