Bradford Public Library in Pennsylvania just took delivery of their new custom bookmobile. The 27ft. bookmobile is built on a Ford F59 (gas) chassis with a 6.8L Triton V-10 engine and a 5-speed TorqShift automatic transmission with overdrive. The vehicle construction is an all aluminum step van body with a 46" wide rear wheelchair access door. Accessibility is provided by a Broan™ Millennium Series 2 wheelchair lift. LED scene lights on the outside of the vehicle were installed. A Dometic 9100 Series 14ft. electric awning is installed to the curbside exterior.
INSIDE
The bookmobile features two upgraded Bostrom high profile Pro-Ride Level II swivel buckets at the front that rotate 180°. Both fixed and pull-out laminate counters provide ample work surfaces. The bookmobile features interior and exterior audio and speakers to keep things fun in and around the vehicle. Three local volume control knobs were integrated to the curbside wall. Fixed bench seating with removable cushions for underseat storage provide a comfy place to sit down and page through a book or two. Acore® modular aluminum bookshelves with a 15° slantback and two booktrucks were selected for durability. LDV fabricated custom aluminum book bins with plexiglass front designed to hold children's books/DVDs.
A 32" LED TV monitor with wall mount bracket was ceiling mounted near the rear of the vehicle. A Samsung panoramic soundbar with wireless subwoofer makes movie time awesome inside the vehicle. The bookmobile also features Cellular, WiFi and GPS capabilities.
Two Coleman Mach 8 series low profile air conditioners with wall-mounted thermostat handle the cooling inside the vehicle. A 13,500 BTU direct discharge furnace with wall-mounted thermostat handles the heating. A Wrico 12kW liquid-cooled generator installed within a custom fabricated compartment provides electric power to the vehicle.
