The Baytown Police Department of Texas chose LDV to create their new mobile command center. This impressive vehicle was built on a Freightliner MT-55 forward control chassis and features a Cummins B6.7 engine and an Allison 2200 EVS automatic transmission with park pawl with PTO provision. One industry-exclusive flat-floor slide-out room extension can be found on the front curb side of the vehicle and increases the interior workspace of the vehicle. To control this slide-out as well as other systems such as the HVAC, lights, and generator with the touch of a button, Baytown chose to incorporate LDV's Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system.
The vehicle is composed of three areas with the main conference area at the front. This space includes a fixed conference table with a fold-down leaf, fixed bench seating with removable cushions for additional storage, flip-down bench seating, a 43" monitor above the flip-down seating, and a corner cabinet with a 32" LED 1080P HDR Smart HDTV mounted above. To separate the front and center/rear areas of the vehicle, a flush pocket door has been installed on a heavy-duty aluminum track to create privacy when needed. In the center area are multiple custom-fabricated aluminum closets and cabinets. A slide-out tray for a printer/copier/fax/scanner has also been integrated into this area for easy access and maintenance of the device when needed. At the rear is a work area with four workstations. Two single workstations have been relegated to the corners while the other two share a countertop space. Each workstation features a 20A-125Vac duplex receptacle with dual USB charging ports, RJ-45 Cat6 computer network jacks, spider base task chair, and custom cabinetry. The workstations at the counter also share a 32" LED 1080P HDR Smart HDTV and feature customer-supplied communications radios which LDV created pre-wire and installation provisions for.
On the exterior, a weatherproof workstation has been integrated into the curb side of the vehicle. This exterior workstation features a 32" TV monitor, HDMI jack, GFCI duplex outlet, Cat6 network jack, and a 12VDC dual USB power port along with a flip-down work surface. The rear has been outfitted with a Fireco® 2200 heavy-duty non-locking telescoping pneumatic mast that also features a Dome network camera with Lightfinder technology. A 13' Dometic® automatic awning provides cover for those utilizing the exterior workstation. Supplying electric power to the vehicle when needed is an Onan Commercial Quiet diesel 12-kW generator. A Quadra® heavy-duty four point fully-automatic one-touch leveling system ensures the mobile command center is level no matter what type of terrain it parks on.
