Baltimore Gas & Electric of Maryland chose LDV to create their new mobile command center. They picked a Ford Transit 350 extended-length cargo RWD high roof chassis to build on, which also features a 275HP V6 gas engine and 10-speed automatic transmission with OD and SelectShift. On the exterior of the vehicle is a weatherproof exterior workstation with a flip-down work surface and LED strip light.
Prewire and installation provisions have been made for communications radios and a customer-owned 4G wireless router. An electronics rack is held in place by a custom-fabricated mounting system. ACData surge suppressor protects all of the AC power system. RJ-45 Cat6 computer network jacks have been utilized throughout the vehicle. Two magnetic dry erase boards are framed in aluminum. Solid surface countertop has been used throughout for durability. Adjustable FRP shelves can be adjusted based on equipment needs and include cargo mesh netting to secure gear during transport.
A 12ft. Dometic power case awning provides shade to those working on the outside of the vehicle. HVAC is handled by a low-profile rooftop air conditioner and a 5,800-12,000 BTU/hr gasoline-fired furnace. A 7kW generator is mounted in a custom-fabricated all aluminum compartment, providing electric power to the vehicle when needed.
