Aspirus Health Care in Wisconsin chose LDV to create their mobile mammography vehicle. They chose a Freightliner MC diesel chassis with a Cummins ISB 6.7 engine, Allison 2200 MH automatic transmission, and air brakes. A dual electric step provides entry through the vehicle's curbside door.
Upon entering the vehicle, patients are welcomed by a waiting and check-in area. This area features fixed bench seating with removable cushions for additional storage, laminate cabinets with antimicrobial countertops, and a custom literature rack. A backlit "Aspirus" logo has also been installed on the ceiling. For the convenience of staff while on the road, a galley kitchen area has also been added with a 3.6 cu. ft. refrigerator and a microwave.
In the center of the vehicle are two changing rooms with bench seating, an overhead shelf, two hanging hooks, and a mirror. Laminate covered pocket doors provide privacy when needed and have been installed on heavy-duty aluminum tracks. At the rear is the mammography area. This area features a flip-down bench seat, more laminate cabinets, antimicrobial countertop, and the mammography gantry. A service door has been integrated into the vehicle's body for servicing of the medical equipment if needed. Three way speakers have also been installed, allowing easy communication between the rear area and the rest of the vehicle. Monitoring the temperature in the mammography area is a Temp Stick WiFi temperature monitoring system.
Supplying electric power to the vehicle when needed is a 25-kW liquid-cooled diesel generator. An 18ft. lateral arm electric awning has also been installed on the curb side of the vehicle, providing coverage for those entering or exiting the vehicle. To assist with parking duties, a Zone Defense color backup camera has been installed. HVAC is handled by two 12,000-16,000 BTU/hr direct discharge diesel-fired furnaces and two wall mount 5,120 BTU/hr electric heaters. Finishing off the vehicle is a full body wrap that is vibrant and inviting.
