Adams County Sheriff of Colorado recently took delivery of this new SWAT/Hostage Negotiation Vehicle for their department. Built on a 2020 Freightliner M2 112 conventional cab chassis, the vehicle is powered by a 350HP Cummins diesel and is paired with an Allison 4500 EVS automatic transmission with PTO provision.
The body is a 22ft. long custom all aluminum dry van body with a heavy duty aluminum rear bumper with center step for access into the vehicle. Two 26" wide swing-out rear doors with interior and exterior latches with integrated into the body. A custom fabricated flip-down rear step provides convenience for staff entering the vehicle. The front cab area contains a custom fabricated center console to house electronics equipment. A Zone Defense color backup camera systems helps parking maneuvers on scene.
The interior of the vehicle features custom fixed bench seating with flip-up seat bases for additional storage underneath. Diamond plate was added to the seating structure for maximum durability. Magnetic dry erase white boards were built and installed along the street side and three aluminum box pan shelves were fabricated for gear storage. The interior is also equipped with a Type 3 Class ABC, ATF Spec steel day box mounted under one of the bench seats. Dual stowable conference tables were also included in the design.
An 10kW generator was installed for electric power with custom exhaust routing to the roof. LDV's Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation touchscreen was chosen to simplify the set-up of the vehicle during on-scene operations.
