Tool Truck Customer Focus – Brian Barker

In this blog we feature one of many customer’s awesome tool truck designs. Highlighting Brain Barker’s killer custom Peterbilt, this 22-foot tool truck not only looks great, but its the result of years of experience in the field.

“I originally started with Snap-on back in 1997 as an assistant to my original Snap-on dealer and then ran his second franchise. I signed up for my first franchise in 2002,” said Snap-on franchise owner, Brian Barker.” said Snap-on franchise owner, Brian Barker.

Brian came to LDV to pick up his new truck with his son (shown, left). His truck has a lot of awesome exterior features. Notice the lighted lower bumper valance, the chrome drop visor and the air horns on the cab dome. What a great looking truck!

Brian’s truck features big exterior storage boxes. These boxes are custom-built by LDV to minimize any water intrusion into the box. The one shown here has an aluminum box pan tray on slides for easy loading (and unloading) of heavier overstock items and features door-activated LED lights.

Brian also worked for Snap-on corporate for several year and was involved with the initial TechKnow program. Even cooler? Brian worked on a pit crew for Indy cars and even got to work the Indianapolis 500 ten times. How awesome is that? But ultimately, it was Snap-on that had him hooked and he got back into his own route a little over a year and a half ago.

“I originally started with Snap-on Tools back in 2002. I had a franchise, sold it, worked for corporate for 9 years and even worked with the pilot program for the Techknow trucks,” said Snap-on franchise owner, Brian Barker. “But ultimately, I wanted to run my own route again.”

“Brian has a lot of experience and good ideas for merchandising a store,” said LDV Tool Sales Specialist, Paul Giese. “His truck is the result of years of planning, listening to his customers’ needs and then rolling all of that into the truck.”

Brian’s store has a lot of great features including: red powder coated socket center, double repair stack, air tool ladder display, sunglasses display case, VersaFlex product display drawers and more.

Some of Brian’s favorite features include the L-shaped desk and the repair stack area. Having those dedicated spaces at the front of the store provides plenty of room to look up pricing or repair a ratchet for a customer without being in the way.

We were also pleased to learn that Brian values our dedicated parts and service departments. They have always been here when he needs them.

A special thank you to Brian for helping us with this blog!
