SWAT and Tactical Vehicles

LDV has been designing and building SWAT and tactical units since our early beginnings. These custom vehicles range from small, agile units on the Ford Transit or Sprinter chassis all the way up to the walk-in style van and even cab chassis units. In recent months, we have delivered some truly incredible trucks and wanted to share with all of you in case you were in need of a similar vehicle.

This custom SWAT vehicle is built with a Ford F550 chassis. A custom fabricated flip-down aluminum step has been installed on the rear side of the vehicle. Inside the cab area is a custom fabricated console. A crawl through space provides access from the cab of the vehicle to the body. Once inside the vehicle, there is bench seating with storage underneath and overhead grab rails. There is a work area, communications radios, and a flip-down laminate countertop. Exterior, interior, and ready jump lights have been added. Pre-wire and installation provisions have been made for a customer installed radio.


The Brown County Sheriff in Green Bay, Wisconsin recently took delivery of this new SWAT/Equipment Vehicle. Their truck is built on a Ford F59 gasoline chassis. A removable stainless work table can be added to the curbside exterior when needed. There is a also a monitor mount for operations outside the vehicle. A flip down rear step has been added to the rear bumper. The ceiling has grab handles. Additionally, there is a rifle securement cabinet with a roll up door. The rear room has café-style seating, stowable work tables, magnetic surface dry erase white boards, and the curbside wall has a 43″ high resolution display monitor.


Montgomery County DPS of Pennsylvania built their new SWAT vehicle on a Ford F-550 4×4 chassis. A flip-down aluminum step has been added on the rear bumper. Inside the cab area is a custom fabricated console. A crawl through space provides access from the cab of the vehicle to the body. Once inside the vehicle, there is flip-down bench seating and overhead fluted aluminum grab rails with rubber covering. There is also a work area with overhead cabinets, under cabinet lighting, white boards, communications radios, and a laminate countertop. Next to the work area is a weapons cabinet that includes storage drawers and is secured with an aluminum roll-up door.


The Illinois State Police was looking for a versatile SWAT/Tactical Situation Command Unit for their operations. The Ford Transit High Roof 350 was selected for these three new vehicles. A custom fabricated weatherproof exterior workstation was integrated into the curbside wall of each vehicle which each house a 32″ LED Smart TV monitor and flip-down work surface. An overhead bulkhead houses communications radio, emergency lighting controls and more. Aluminum storage cabinets were included with undercabinet LED lighting. The overhead cabinet has dry erase writing surface. A second 32″ display monitor is installed along with a locking slide-out work surface to create a versatile workstation. A complete siren package was also integrated.


Built on a Ford F-550 2wd chassis, this SWAT/Tactical vehicle features a 16ft. dry van body. A custom fabricated console to house emergency lighting and siren controller and a communications radio was integrated. A crawl-through access from cab to body was also included. We fabricated a custom flip-down step for the rear entry door. Inside the vehicle, a workstation with laminate counter top and a specialty compartment complete with roll up door to secure 24 firearms vertically was built. Night operations can be conducted with the flip of a switch thanks to the LED red lighting.
