LDV Mobile Command Centers + Catastrophe Response, a Powerful Combo!

Disasters are an inevitable part of life. Hurricanes ravage the coasts, tornadoes tear through the Midwest, and winter storms cripple towns under layers of snow and ice. Communities will always need organizations brave enough to rush in when help is needed most, no matter what disaster they are dealing with.
Below are three incredibly different mobile command centers that highlight some of the things that LDV does best when it comes to building vehicles for disaster relief.
ENTERGY ENERGY (AR)
Mobile Command Center
The recently completed mobile command center for Entergy Energy features a Freightliner M2 106 chassis with all aluminum body. We integrated four custom fabricated flat floor slide-outs to increase the available interior space. A weatherproof exterior workstation was also added. A vehicle leveling system was installed to stabilize the vehicle when deployed. e simplified vehicle deployment with our Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system. Extreme duty body storage compartments provide additional gear storage.
Inside, the command center has a front conference and collaboration room for meetings. A corner workstation has also been added complete with high resolution display monitor. A large 55″ display monitor is wall mounted in the streetside slide out along with magnetic surface dry erase white boards. The curbside slide out has a 43″ display monitor. We installed dual wireless charging bases in the surface of the conference table. An Extron video matrix switcher can send video signals to any of the installed monitors in the command vehicle. A weather station is also included.
The center of the vehicle features the electronics rack, multi-function printer on a slide-out tray and magnetic close pocket doors for privacy. The next room heading towards the rear of the vehicle is a dedicated work room with six workstations. A spider base task chair has been added to each along with high resolution display monitors. Overhead electronics racks are also included. The rear room features a lavatory and the galley. The galley in the command center features a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. The truck is also equipped with a pressurized water supply system and a waste water tank for convenience.
Electric power is supplied to the vehicle by a 25kW liquid-cooled diesel generator. HVAC duties are handled by four ducted low profile rooftop A/C units and wall mounted electric heaters. A Will-Burt Night Scan LED light tower has been fitted to the roof for night operations. A non-locking telescoping rear mast is also installed with dual network IP cameras.
ATMOS ENERGY (TX)
Mobile Command Center
This mobile command center was recently completed for Atmos Energy of Texas. The command vehicle is built on a Kenworth chassis and features a custom all aluminum dry van body. We integrated four of our custom fabricated flat floor slide-outs into the body for maximum interior workspace. The vehicle can be deployed quickly thanks to our Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system. Vehicle leveling is also installed to stabilize the truck on scene. We also fabricated a weatherproof exterior workstation to house a large display monitor. A complete emergency lighting and siren package has also been installed. Extreme duty body storage compartments offer additional gear storage space.
Inside, the command vehicle has a front conference room with fixed center table and eight spider base task chairs. There is a corner workstation in the slide-out and flip down bench seating for additional staff members. Soft close magnetic pocket doors provide privacy. The front wall has a wall mounted 55″ high resolution display monitor.
The center of the vehicle has a galley with microwave, refrigerator and Keurig™ coffee maker. A multi-function printer and custom aluminum cabinetry are also installed. Overhead cabinets have dry erase writing surfaces. A large electronics rack houses the installed equipment in the vehicle. The rear work room has six workstations each with a spider base task chair. A 32″ display monitor is included at each workstation. The rear wall has a wall mounted 43″ display monitor and dual magnetic surface dry erase white boards. A camera is included for collaboration when needed.
Five ducted low profile rooftop A/C units with thermostat are installed to cool the interior. Dual Broan wall mounted electric heaters are also included. A diesel-fired furnace can heat the interior quickly when called upon. A powerful 25kW liquid cooled diesel generator provides plenty of electric power. A full vehicle surge suppression system protects all of the installed equipment.
Allstate Insurance (IL)
Mobile Command Centers
Allstate Insurance chose LDV to build this mobile command center. Built on a Ford F-650 Super Cab 2WD chassis, their vehicle features a 6.7L Power Stroke diesel with 6-speed automatic transmission. The custom all aluminum dry van body has dual rear doors and a curbside entry door. The custom rear bumper also has a 40″ wide flip down step. Parking the command center is easy thanks to a (3) camera system with monitor. We custom fabricated extreme duty storage compartments and a specialty compartment equipped with dual coffee makers. We also fabricated a weatherproof exterior workstation with a SunBrite 49″ Pro Series outdoor 1080P HDTV monitor with all weather sound bar.
Inside, the mobile command center features a front meeting area. Seating is custom fixed bench with a fixed collaboration table. There is a long counter with 4 workstations with spider base task chairs. The front wall has a 32″ HDTV monitor installed. Storage is provided by aluminum overhead cabinets with dry erase writing surface. There are adjustable shelves with mesh cargo netting. We installed a multi-function printer on a slide-out tray. A large electronics rack houses Allstate Insurance’s gear. The rear of the vehicle has a room accessible from the rear of the vehicle. Additional adjustable storage shelving is included along with E-track. All interior lighting is LED.
Electric power is supplied by an Onan Commercial Quiet 12kW diesel generator. All electrical systems are protected by a full vehicle surge suppression system. The mobile command center also has a vehicle leveling system.
Florida Power & Light (FL)
Mobile Command Center
Florida Power and Light selected the agile Ford Transit as the platform for their mobile command unit. The vehicle is powered by a 3.5L EcoBoost engine with automatic transmission.
The interior features three workstations, a custom electronics rack, a whiteboard viewing area and an additional rear workstation. Prewire and installation provisions were made for communications radios to be added to the vehicle. Box pan shelves provide easy access to stored equipment. Solid surface countertops with Lexan covers have been used throughout for maximum durability as well. Blackout curtains can be put up over the cab windows. Four 24″ LED display monitors on wall brackets are included. There is also a large 43″ display monitor installed in the interior.
LDV’s industry exclusive Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system has been integrated to control multiple features like HVAC, awning deployment, and lighting. An exterior workstation includes a 43” signature outdoor monitor, GFCI duplex receptacles, CAT6 network jacks, and a customer-supplied computer located in the interior electronics rack to use. For HVAC, an air conditioner unit and wall-mounted electric heater help control the temperature. When electric power is needed for the vehicle, a 7kW 120 volt AC generator has been installed in its own custom-fabricated housing. All of the vehicle’s electronics are protected by a full vehicle surge suppression system. Complete with leveling jacks and ample emergency equipment storage, this agile command unit covers all the bases.
