Building Stuff…and Birdies

Fabricator Makes the Cut for Disc Golf National Championship

Our marketing team has made it our mission to highlight the talented people that contribute to the construction of our custom specialty vehicles. It’s not uncommon find us wandering the build stalls snapping photos or capturing video of our employees doing what they do.

Our latest employee highlight is Kassen, a Welder/Fabricator in our famous Fab Shop. His talents are utilized every day to create things such as our flat floor slide-out “tubs” that find their way into custom law enforcement vehicles and more. We have also shot video of him building one of our Extreme Duty Body Storage Boxes. All built from scratch and to our exacting standards.

“I like what I do here. Working with metal challenges you but seeing your work installed in one of these trucks is so rewarding,” Kassen said.

His handiwork with custom trucks is worth highlighting for sure. But wait, there’s more.

Kassen is talented beyond LDV’s walls. He qualified recently for the National Amateur Disc Golf Tour (NADGT) National Championships which was held in Austin, Texas in October. This year’s event brought nearly 1,300 skilled disc golfers together for the event. He competed in the Pro Masters 40+ division and finished 106th.

“The courses we played were tough. Plus it was really windy and I was nervous,” he chuckled. “But I learned a lot and it was such a great experience for me.”

Kassen also noted some of the holes were brutally long, which test your accuracy and strength to throw the disc as far as possible.

“A typical hole here (in Wisconsin) might be 400 feet. There were a few holes down there that were 1,000 feet or more.”

Kassen also told us about a course he played in Austin that was set up at a vineyard.

The take away from all this is our employees are passionate in everything they do. We employ people with drive and personal goals which carry over to the workplace. Kassen and other co-workers are regulars on the disc golf courses in the area thanks to this shared passion.
