Houma Police Department excited about new mobile command center

Houma Police are hoping a mobile command unit will help make their jobs a lot easier during emergencies or community functions.

Following a nationwide bidding process, the Houma Police Department found a used mobile command unit at LDV (Lynch Display Vans) for $85,000. Considering the $400,000 price tag for a new unit, O’Bryan said the cost was too good to pass up.

“This is a huge savings for us,” he said. “This particular vehicle came from a police department in California, and they kept it in excellent condition. It has less than 7,500 miles on it and less than 250 hours on the generator. It has a diesel engine, which is what the big trucks have.”
